Niche transforms a neutral San Francisco home into a vibrant pied-Ã -terre
INSIDE LOOK: BOLD, VIVACIOUS SAN FRANCISCO BACHELORETTE PAD
When our longtime client purchased a new home in San Francisco's Marina district she turned to Niche to transform this neutral home into a rich, layered retreat. We added impact with bold paint choices, graphic wallpaper, luxe furniture and contemporary lighting. Taking cues from the classic architectural details, the interior design direction is sophisticated and refined with unexpected pops of color and contemporary furniture and lighting.
CREATING A COLOR STORY
We incorporated all of the client's favorite colors into the design of her new home, including mulberry, raspberry, teal, peacock blue and aqua. The challenge was to introduce all of these hues in a way that felt cohesive but not matchy. We achieved this by using various tones of each color throughout the home in the form of both patterned and solid fabrics and bold paint colors combined with neutral rugs to ground the spaces.
STATEMENT LIGHTING
Blue tones are carried into the formal dining room which features a modern walnut and bronze dining table and sculptural chairs in a navy boucle fabric. A statement chandelier acts as the focal point in the room, paired with a large-scale contemporary painting by a female artist that sits above a curved sideboard. The peacock velvet sofa in the living room references the newly painted teal kitchen cabinets, with contemporary armchairs upholstered in a bold patterned raspberry velvet.
LUXE LAYERS
The primary bedroom features a custom bed with subtle curves upholstered in a rich, patterned velvet. A moody silk rug, bronze bench with blush fabric and alpaca throw add luxe layers to the room. A hand-blown glass sconce adds a touch of ambient light.
